Biodiversity loss is one of the biggest challenges facing our generation. That is why the 2nd Muskoka Summit on the Environment theme was Biodiversity Loss.
The Summit featured eight speakers who highlighted issues and trends and examined policy options for future action. The Summit concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Paul Kennedy of the CBC show Ideas.
A formal communiqué has been developed for use by the public at local, regional, provincial, or national levels to encourage action to be taken on stopping biodiversity loss.
The Summit was open to everyone and was structured to accommodate all levels of knowledge. There were three categories for registration:
- Non-profit & General Public
- Government, Corporate & Academia
There was also a concurrent Youth Summit organized by Nipissing University for students from a number of high schools. The participants in the Youth Summit have also developed their own communique.
