David Pearson

Dr. David Pearson

Dr. David Pearson is an earth scientist and Professor in the School of the Environment at Laurentian University. He was on leave from 1980 to 1986 as the Project Director and founding Director of Science North. He has hosted two TV science series, one on geology and another on community environmental activities, as well as being the weekly scientist on CBC Northern Ontario radio for 14 years.

From 2002 to 2007 David chaired the Ontario office of the Canadian Climate Impacts and Adaptation Research Network. He co-chaired the Ontario Expert Panel on Climate Change Adaptation and chaired the Far North Science Advisory Panel that released “Science for a Changing Far North” in 2010. He is currently working with remote far north Ontario First Nations assessing the likely impacts of climate change and potential adaptation options.

David is a member of the Order of Ontario and is happily married with three sons.
